Dunas proposes a low-density residential community facing the Pacific, set within the landscape of the Macahuite Ecological Reserve on the coast of Oaxaca.

Located between Puerto Escondido and Huatulco, the masterplan comprises 31 houses, internal paths, controlled access points, shared areas, and a clubhouse connected to both the reserve and the beach. The houses are distributed among the existing vegetation, preserving the continuity of the landscape and establishing a dispersed form of settlement in which architecture remains closely tied to its surroundings.

The houses share a series of organizational principles shaped by the local climate and the experience of living on the site. Living spaces, bedrooms, terraces, and private pools are arranged through a sequence of open and sheltered areas that provide shade, encourage natural ventilation, and frame views of the landscape. The transition between interior and exterior extends domestic life onto terraces, patios, and other open spaces, responding to the conditions of the coastal climate.

At a collective scale, a network of paths connects the houses with the shared areas, the reserve, and the beach. The clubhouse brings together the development’s main communal spaces, including a swimming pool and outdoor areas for gathering and relaxation, and serves as a shared meeting point for residents.

Dunas proposes a series of interventions dispersed among the vegetation, where houses, paths, and communal spaces form part of a single system for inhabiting the landscape.
